Scriptures: Psalm 68:1-10, 32-35; John 17:1-11; Acts 1:6-14; 1 Peter 4:12-14; 5:6-11.
Key verse: “And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one.” John 17:11
Questions to ponder:
1. What was the most difficult farewell that you have bidden? What impact did that experience have on you?
2. How different or how similar were your farewell experiences from Jesus’ farewell to his disciples?
3. From your perspective, what is the big picture of God’s mission in John 17:1-11? How had God’s mission shaped Jesus’ farewell to his disciples?
Prayer: God of eternity, may each little thing we do in your name spark and shine in the big picture of your mission and spread your hope and peace to its surrounding people. Amen.
