Scriptures:
Isaiah 40:21-31 The creator of all cares for the powerless
Psalm 147:1-11, 20c The Lord heals the brokenhearted. (Ps. 147:3)
1 Corinthians 9:16-23 A servant for the sake of the gospel
Mark 1:29-39 The healing of Peter’s mother-in-law
Key verse:
Jesus answered, “Let us go on to the neighboring towns, so that I may proclaim the message there also; for that is what I came out to do.” Mark 1:38
Questions to ponder:
1.The gospel is the good news about God’s victory over death and sin through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. How can the gospel change, affect, impact, or transform our lives?
2. What can we learn from St. Paul’s way of proclaiming the gospel in his 1st letter to the Corinthians 9:19-23?
3. What may be missing greatly in the way we proclaim the gospel today? What may be the reasons? How can we proclaim the good news in a natural, genuine, wholistic, and faithful way?
Prayer: God of victory, we give you thanks for the gospel that Jesus Christ brings to all. Through the gospel your loving rule is established, your justice is recognized, your peace is embraced. May the Holy Spirit guide us to be your living testimonies, through which, many more people can see and experience your kingdom. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.
