Scriptures:
Jonah 3:1-5, 10 Repentance at Nineveh.
Psalm 62:5-12 God alone is my rock and my salvation.
1 Corinthians 7:29-31 Living in the end time.
Mark 1:14-20 The calling of the disciples at the sea.
Key verse:
And Jesus said to them, “Follow me and I will make you fish for people.” Mark 1:17
Questions to ponder:
1. In your view, what is the big picture of your life? What might happen when you lose sight of the big picture?
2. Based on Jesus’ message, what is the big picture Jesus asks of us to see? Why is it difficult for us to see the big picture from time to time as the people of God?
3. The biblical Greek word, metanoia - repentance, means a change of mind or turning around. How does our faith, a gift from God, lead us to turn around and respond to Jesus faithfully without losing sight of the big picture?
Prayer: God of all, you draw all people to yourself and welcome them under your care. May we humbly accept your invitation to be the extension of your hospitality. May we also be equipped with your wisdom, practice hospitality with your love, embrace our incompetence with your grace, and celebrate the diversity in unity with joy. We pray with a thankful heart to your calling, O God. Amen.
