Scriptures:

Isaiah 40:1-11 Good news of God’s coming to a people in exile

Psalm 85:1-2, 8-13 Righteousness shall prepare a pathway for God. (Ps. 85:13)

2 Peter 3:8-15a Waiting for and hastening the day of God

Mark 1:1-8 John appears from the wilderness

Key verse: Good News - God is coming

“See, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way.” (Mark 1:2b)

Questions to ponder:

1. In your view what is the good news that we have received?

2. Why do you think that it is important for us to hear the good news and widespread it? How do you see yourself doing it?

3. How far would you go to help those who couldn’t hear the good news?

Prayer:

God of righteousness, we give thanks for your goodness that is for all who await in hope. We anticipate nothing but your goodness that fills us, heals us, restores us, and completes us. May we be your messengers who are willing to take risks and go far enough to make your good news known to those who are immobilized, isolated, or abandoned. We pray in the name of Jesus, Amen.
