The 17th Sunday after Pentecost, Year A

Scriptures: Jonah 3:10-4:11; Psalm 145:1-8; Matthew 20:1-16; Philippians 1:21-30.

Key verse:Am I not allowed to do what I choose with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?” (Matthew 20:15)

Questions to ponder:

1. What is it like to buy in a biased story or reporting of a person? How can we avoid it?

2. Think of some examples of human’s selective justice vs God’s generous justice?

3. How do you let God be God amid what you believe is injustice but might be God’s generous justice?

Prayer: God of generous justice, thank you for being generous to all while we tend to practice selective justice due to our limited knowing, understanding, and inward mindset. May we focus on planting the fruit of the Spirit in Galatians 5: 22-23, keeping the soil and environment healthy to grow it, and celebrating with joy at times of harvest. Amen.
