The 15th Sunday after Pentecost, Year A

Scriptures: Ezekiel 33:7-11; Psalm 119:33-40; Matthew 18:15-20; Romans 13:8-14.

Key verse: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” Matthew 18:20

Questions to ponder:

1. Based on your personal experiences and perspectives, what can anger do and lead us to?

2. Forgiving doesn’t mean forgetting which might or might not eventually happen. Who has demonstrated and helped you see the benefits of forgiving? How has that helped you?

3. How do you prevent anger from prolonging and trying to reconcile a relationship when self-destructive behaviors begin to affect and hurt yourself and those around you?

Prayer: God of peace and reconciliation, through the power of the cross, you have reconciled with us. May the peace you have given us by grace through faith is rejuvenated and strengthened each time whenever we forgive and love well. We give you thanks for the gift of reconciliation, given to all, free of charge. Amen.
