Questions to ponder:
1. What are some nourishing foods that satisfy your body, your soul, your mind, and your strength? And how may those nourishing foods remind you of your loved ones, your identities, or any significant events?
2. In which ways do you see that food brings and keeps people, friends and strangers, together? How would you elaborate on ‘food is more than survival’?
3. In Matthew 14:13-21, who were the people in that story? How were they doing before the meal? How might each tell the story of the feeding of 5000+? What does their collective story tell you about how God works through Jesus?
Prayer: O God, your compassion and steadfast love are always more than plenty to bring comfort, healing, and encouragement to all who put trust in you. Everything from you is hope not despair, love not hatred, honor not shame, forgiveness not resentment, good not evil. May we be fed by you and activate your presence wherever we are through the Word, your only Son, Jesus our Lord. Amen.
