The 6th Sunday after Pentecost, Year A
Scriptures: Zechariah 9:9-12; Psalm 145:8-14; Matthew 11:16-19, 25-30; Romans 7:15-25a.
Key verse: “Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28
Questions to ponder:
1. How have you coped in situations when things or people used to bring you joy but for some reason couldn’t help your troubled hearts?
2. From your experience, why is it easier for infants to find joy and express their emotions than most adults could do?
3. How do Jesus' words in Matthew 11:25 resonate with you, “Hidden things revealed to infants”? When should we have the heart of infants and why is that?
Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for your gentle and humble heart which make your yoke easy and your burden light. May we let go of our own yoke and burden and carry yours instead. Rather than think and do stressful and harmful things, may we follow you closely each day, imitate your words and deeds, learn your gentle and humble, trust your steadfast love and tireless companionship. Amen.
