Happy Easter. Today is the most glorious day in 2022. It is a glorious day not because we decide to make this day glorious, but because God is glorified by what Jesus has accomplished. What we celebrate is not our personal achievement but something holy, set apart for God’s purpose alone. Nothing can substitute it and no one can take it away - that is our Lord Jesus Christ who is risen, indeed! He is risen. Alleluia!
On this glorious day, God extends his loving arms and hosts this welcome home party for each one of us. It is as glorious as it can get, with each of us getting our room as Jesus has promised to his disciples in John 14:1-4. Not only that, Jesus will personally make sure that our being is well situated with his blessings. From this day on, we are co-hosts of God’s Kingdom. We become the extension of God’s loving arms, waiting for more to come home.
Let’s look around us in our neighborhoods. Who has been isolated and lonely? Who has been suffering hunger and thirst? And who is lost, unloved, or unforgiven? Should we let them know about God through the life of Jesus? Should we introduce them to our faithful God who stuck with us through our worst even after seeing how fragile our faith has become and how often our wavering mind has led us further away from being disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ?
Then, my question for myself and you is: as we lead them to the Lord, what does it take for us to journey with those I listed above without prejudice, bias, or even victimizing them, but with a posture of humble service? I can’t think of other ways than practicing the embodiment of God’s love that I mentioned on Maundy Thursday. And we do it one day at a time, one person at a time, and from those around us, creating and cultivating the culture of hospitality from a drop of water to a ripple effect. May today’s verse from Isaiah 65:17 be yours and mine, “Pay close attention now: I’m creating new heavens and a new earth. All the earlier troubles, chaos, and pain are things of the past, to be forgotten.”
